David de Lara is a visual artist and photographer with a penchant for being a social deviant and nonconformist. For two decades he has created original artwork of women that has been described as sensual and provocative with an air of mystery.
David came from a small country town in South Texas. After receiving a BFA in Fine Arts from (redacted) he relocated to Austin, Texas, which opened him up to many opportunities. His art has been exhibited throughout Texas and the rest of United States and has been selected for many juried exhibitions. He has received several art grants, a fashion award, and his work has also been published internationally.
The women in David’s art often represent the human condition. The images created sometimes blur the line between the reality and surrealism of life. They portray his thoughts, experiences, and philosophies as he tries to make sense of existence and deal with the darkness and the light that lives in the soul. Although what he creates is presented from his point of view, what people interpret and connect with from his work is very telling about the common ground everyone has.
